Machining & Forming Technologies Lab

The Laboratory of Machining & Forming Technologies is part of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of the Peloponnese. Lab’s scientific and research area, due to the number of equipment, is spread in the whole range of mechanical engineering applications. Specific fields involve:

  • Materials characterization.
  • Development of new materials.
  • Composites Materials.
  • Mechanical behavior of materials.
  • Materials processing.
  • Manufacturing
  • Production Systems planning and control.
  • Use and study of the conventional machine tools.
  • Use and study of welding techniques.
  • Use and programming of CNC Machines.
  • Metal forming processes and mold design.
  • Design and production of mechanical parts and machines.
  • Reverse Engineering.
  • Rapid Prototyping and 3D printing.
  • Robots.
  • Simulation of processes.

The aim of the lab is the education of undergraduate students in the fields of science and the dissemination of knowledge.

The research activities of the laboratory are published in peer review scientific journals and presented at international conferences.

Finally referring to the sector of industrial services, the laboratory affords equipment, human resources and long experience in mechanical testing, machining, design, materials characterization and structural analysis.
