Assembly

The Department Assembly consists of: a) the Head of the Department, b) the Vice Head of the Department, c) all members of the Teaching Research Staff (D.E.P.) of the Department, d) one (1) representative of a Special Technical Laboratory Personnel (ETEP) of the Department, and e) a representative of the students per study cycle (not designated yet).

The Department Assembly has the following responsibilities:

a) outlines the general educational and research policy of the Department and its development course in the context of the policy of the School and the Institution,

b) recommends the Department’s development plan to the Dean’s Office

c) draws up the Internal Regulations of the Department and submits it for approval to the Senate of the Higher Educational Institution (A.E.I.),

d) compiles the Department’s subject register,

e) prepares the register of internal and external electors for the election and development of the members of the Teaching Research Staff (D.E.P.),

f) provides an opinion on the establishment, merger, division, renaming, change of scientific field or abolition of Sections of the Department,

g) draws up and submits for approval to the Dean’s Office the annual planning of recruitment of D.E.P. members. according to the educational and research needs of the Department and ranks the academic subjects to be announced in descending order of priority,

h) draws up and submits for approval to the Dean’s Office the annual recruitment planning for members of Special Educational Staff (E.E.P.), Laboratory Teaching Staff (E.D.I.P.) and Special Technical Laboratory Staff (E.T.E.P.) according to the needs of the Department,

i) proposes the change of knowledge object of a D.E.P. member, after an opinion of the General Assembly of the Sector to which he belongs,

j) recommends to the Senate the establishment of university laboratories, clinics and museums to be established in the Department or in Sections of the Department,

k) assigns the teaching work to the members of D.E.P., E.E.P., E.D.I.P. and E.T.E.P. of the Department and the additional teaching and research staff for the first and second cycle programs of the Department,

l) recommends to the Senate the members of the study program committees and designates a person responsible for each first-cycle study program, if the Department organizes more than one study program,

m) recommends the establishment, modification or abolition of first, second and third cycle study programs of the Department, as well as foreign language study programs,

n) draws up the guide for each first-cycle study program and the internal regulations of second- and third-cycle study programs, and submits them for approval to the A.E.I. senate,

o) approve the list of textbooks distributed for each educational activity of the curriculum,

p) recommends to the Senate the appointment of a Department Director, university laboratory, when there are no nominations,

q) awards the degrees of study programs organized by the Department,

r) recommends to the Senate the awarding of the title of Emeritus and Honorary Professor and Honorary Doctor,

s) approves the membership of a D.E.P. member. in a part-time employment status and the granting of scientific leave, unpaid leave and parallel employment in A.E.I. of foreign countries,

t) provides an opinion to the Senate on the movement of members of the D.E.P., E.E.P., E.D.I.P. and E.T.E.P. from and to another Department of the same or another A.E.I.,

u) recommends to the Quality Assurance Committee the formation of groups for the internal evaluation of the Department, the individual academic units operating in it and its study programs,

v) makes recommendations to the Dean’s Office regarding the Department’s needs for additional teaching staff.

w) invites and selects the Visiting Professors,

x) announces the positions of authorized teachers and sets up committees for their evaluation,

y) assigns postgraduate students to carry out supplementary teaching work in first cycle study programs and PhD candidates to carry out supplementary teaching work in first and second cycle study programs of the Department,

z) grants excellence scholarships and remunerative scholarships to the students of the Department’s study programs,

aa) seeks all kinds of funding, donations, financial aid and sponsorships to support the educational, research and general activities of the Department and to upgrade its infrastructure,

bb) makes recommendations to the Dean’s Office regarding the needs of the Department and for the smooth and orderly conduct of the educational and research work of the Department and its individual academic units, as well as for the execution of maintenance or upgrading projects and studies of the infrastructure and equipment have been allocated to the Department,

cc) sets up committees to study or process specific issues that fall within its competences,

dd) grants a license for the exercise of teaching, research, laboratory or clinical and in general scientific work by a member of D.E.P., E.E.P., E.D.I.P. or E.T.E.P. of the Department in more than one Department of the same Department, following his request and the opinion of the Department or Department, where the project is to be carried out,

ee) decides on the distribution of the staff serving in the Department or the Department’s Departments,

ff) approves the transfer of a staff member from one Department to another of the same Department, following the request of the interested party and the opinion of the Departments,

gg) exercise any authority that concerns the matters of the members of the E.E.P., E.D.I.P. and E.T.E.P. of the Department, if the competence is not assigned specifically to another body of the A.E.I. by virtue of a special provision and

hh) exercises any other authority provided for in the internal regulations of A.E.I.
